Soft photos - Using Actions

Here's a couple of Actions to use making your photos soft.

Put these in your Photoshop folder: Adobe->Photoshop x.x ->Presets -> Photoshop Actions

Walrus Fantasy Focus I
(for Color)

Walrus Fantasy Focus II
(for BW)

Then, when inside Photoshop, go to your action toolwindow, click the arrow on top and chose "Load action". Choose one at the time to load(you can only load one at the time). Then, when having the prefered photo up, run one of these actions(one is for color, one for BW). The action create 1-3 layers(depending on which you choose). It finishes of by flattening the image, but you can go back one step in history to get more control over the different parameters.

To show how it works, I have created 4 excamples, the first without the effect at all. On all the other three I removed the effect by using the erasor tool on all the effect layers(on eyes, moth and a little bit on the nose)

Original file

One third soft focus (makes one effect layer)

Two third soft focus (makes two effect layers)

Full soft focus (makes three effect layers)

I hope this was understandable.

You can prevent compression artifacts like thoe you see on her nose by adding a tad noise.
